Defoe: This means the world to us

Jermain Defoe

Jermain Defoe feels that Tottenham deserve their place in the group stage of the Champions League.

The striker delayed a groin operation to play in the match against Young Boys at the Lane and scored one of our four goals, with Peter Crouch bagging the other three.

Defoe believes that after last season, Spurs have warranted their place in Europe’s top club competition.

He said: “All the hard work we put in last season has paid off now. This means the world to us.

“It’s all about Champions League football. We know we can play on this stage.”
