Jermain Defoe has given his full backing to the attempt to bring Joe Cole to Tottenham on a free transfer this summer.
The striker is a big fan of Cole’s and is keen to see his England team-mate join him at Spurs.
“When we were in South Africa, you could see every day his passion and his drive to want to improve.
“In training he was sharp and he was strong, he just loves football – that’s Joe. So if we could get someone like that at teh club, it would be good for everyone.”
Defoe is also looking forward to pitting himself against the world’s best this season, after Spurs qualified for the Champions League.
“That’s massive for everyone at the club. I’m really looking forward to that, it’s really early in the season.
“We want to have a good run in teh league as well. Last year was fantastic and I really think we can do it again.”
