Dejan Kulusevski comments on Antonio Conte’s explosive press conference

Speaking to Sky Sports while on international duty, Tottenham Hotspur star Dejan Kulusevski has given his opinion on Antonio Conte’s explosive press conference from the weekend and insists he still sees the manager as an important person at the club.

After watching his side squander a two-goal lead against relegation-threatened Southampton on Saturday afternoon in a 3-3 draw, Conte vented his frustrations in a highly-critical press conference (Football.London).

An angry Conte hit out at his players for being ‘selfish’ and also criticised the club’s owners for a lack of ambition.

The comments have created a situation where Conte’s job is now at risk, and it has been suggested the Italian could leave the club by the end of the week (Telegraph).

Spurs players are now on international duty for their respective countries, and there is a good chance Ryan Mason will be their manager by the time they get back according to that Telegraph report.

Now, Kulusevski has been asked to comment on the situation and revealed how he reacted to that press conference.

He said: “No [I didn’t take offence to the comments], because I know what I bring to the team every day.

“I know that I prepare myself to do as good as I can and that’s why I can always look myself in the mirror.”

“Sometimes I know I don’t play good enough and I can take responsibility for that but what he said is for him and that’s his words.

“I respect him and he helped me a lot during my career, so he’s still a very important man in our club and in my world.”

Spurs Web Opinion

A good response from Kulusevski, and he hits upon an interesting point.

I wonder how many of the Spurs players can actually honestly say they give everything they can every single game?

I know there have to be some who watched Conte’s press conference and knew they were guilty of his criticisms.
