Dejan Kulusevski is excited for Spurs youngster to break into the first-team next season

Dejan Kulusevski has admitted that he is looking forward to playing alongside Lucas Bergvall at Tottenham next season, adding that he will help the young midfielder settle into life at the Premier League side.

Bergvall has started the new Allsvenskan season from where he left off last campaign, dominating matches for Djurgardens, with Spurs appearing to have a special talent on their hands.

There is reportedly plenty of excitement at Tottenham about the youngster’s arrival, with reports indicating that the teenager will be handed a prominent first-team role next season (Football Insider).

Various sources have suggested that Kulusevski played a key role in convincing his international teammate to pick the Lilywhites over other suitors in January (Fabrizio Romano).

However, the 23-year-old played down his own influence, telling Aftonbladet last month that he merely told the midfielder what life at Hotspur Way is like and did not try to sell the club to him.

Kulusevski is excited to play with Lucas Bergvall

Kulusevski has now spoken about his excitement at the teenager’s impending arrival in North London, remarking that he will offer the newcomer all the help he needs.

When asked about Bergvall’s arrival at Tottenham, the former Juventus winger told Goteborgs-Posten (as relayed by Sport Witness): “I will be a support if he needs help on the side. I’ve been there for a few years and I know about football abroad. He is a great player, and it will be fun to play with him.

“I will be there for him, and I think it helps when someone has been through it before. You have to go through periods where you don’t play for a long time.

“It will be good for him to have someone who really cares about him.“You never know how big the step will be mentally. We will see, but the football is inside him. I’ve never had a Swedish teammate, so it will be incredibly fun for him to be there and to be there for him.”

Bergvall should not have too much of a culture shock in London, given that he is from Sweden and speaks good English.

However, moving away from your home town and joining such a high-profile club is a big ask for someone so young and having someone like Kulusevski at the club will be of immense help for the teenager.
