Dejan Kulusevski shares what he told Lucas Bergvall about Tottenham

Dejan Kulusevski has insisted that he only told Lucas Bergvall the truth about life at Tottenham and did not go out of his way to convince his compatriot about moving to North London.

Bergvall has started the new Allsvenskan season from where he left off last campaign, dominating matches for Djurgardens, with Spurs appearing to have a special talent on their hands.

There is reportedly plenty of excitement at Tottenham about the youngster’s arrival, with reports indicating that the teenager will be handed a prominent first-team role next season (Football Insider).

It has been widely reported that Spurs saw off competition from several top sides to land the midfielder, with Spanish outlets suggesting that they stole the player from under Barcelona’s nose (Sport).

Various sources have suggested that Kulusevski played a key role in convincing his international teammate to pick the Lilywhites over other suitors (Fabrizio Romano).

However, the Tottenham winger insisted that he only shared the truth about the club with his compatriot and allowed the midfielder to make up his own mind.

When asked what he said to Bergvall about life at Spurs, Kulusevski told Aftonbladet: “I told him the truth. How much I enjoyed Tottenham as a club and London as a city, how good the coach was and how good my teammates were. That was enough, it seems.

“It’s not easy to get into a position where you can choose which team to play in. It was entirely his decision, but I was really happy that he chose Tottenham.”

Bergvall obviously has to make the best decision for the sake of his own career and it is understandable why Kulusevski would have wanted to paint as accurate a picture as possible so that the 18-year-old can make an informed decision.

However, there is no doubt that the teenager has made the right call as the environment at Spurs under Ange Postecoglou is the ideal one for him to express himself and go on to fulfil his potential.
