Dele should fear for his Spurs place warns former player

Following Tottenham’s 1-0 away win to London rivals West Ham, two Spurs stars were named in Garth Crooks’ team of the week.

Shot stopper and man of the match Hugo Lloris was chosen in goal after he denied Arnautovic three times with some superb saves.

Garth also chose Erik Lamela as his centre forward, after the Argentine extended his scoring run to seven in nine games for Tottenham.

Lamela nodded home to only goal of the game at the Olympic Stadium after an impressive cross from Moussa Sissoko.

Due to Lamela’s scintillating form, Garth Crooks believes one other Spurs team mate must watch his back when it comes to his starting XI spot.

Dele Alli has been out injured for a good few weeks now, and Lamela has slipped into the England man’s shoes with no problems whatsoever.

Alli could find it difficult to know the in-form Tottenham man back to the bench when he eventually returns from injury, which is expected to be in the next week or two.

Crooks said this in his BBC article: “This is a player with extraordinary ability. We’ve seen flashes of it before and who can forget his rabona against Asteras Tripolis in the Europa League? Erik Lamela seems back to the player he was before he had his long lay-off with injury.

“He dominated proceedings against West Ham and his efforts deserved to be rewarded with the winning goal. Dele Alli had better be careful – Lamela is very capable of taking his place.”
