Dele takes to Twitter to welcome team-mate back into Mourinho’s starting eleven

Tottenham Hotspur had to fight until the very end whilst showing a never say attitude to beat Aston Villa yesterday afternoon.

The home side started the game on the front foot and were rewarded for their efforts when Toby Alderweireld put a deflected cross into his own net to give them the lead.

However, the lead didn’t last long when the Belgian made amends for his mistake with a well-taken equaliser.

Spurs went ahead when Heung-min nudged home a rebound on the cusp of half time after seeing his penalty saved by Pepe Reina.

While the first half had been pretty even, Spurs exercised much more control in the second half and cut through the Villa backline at will.

They created enough chances, especially through Dele Alli who was wasteful in front of goal to put the game out of sight but failed to make it count, only for Dean Smith’s side to level the game against the run of play.

Jose Mourinho’s men squandered several more chances and it looked like they might have to settle for a point. However, Son Heung-min pounced on a mistake from Bjorn Engels with just seconds left of injury time to give the Lilywhites a dramatic win.

Here’s how Dele Alli, Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn reacted to the win:

Spurs Web Opinion

As delighted as I was to see Son slot the winner into the back of the net with seconds to go, the finishing from our forwards was unbelievably poor all through the match. It is no exaggeration at all to say that Son, Dele and Bergwijn all had enough chances to have scored at least a couple of goals each.
