Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele has admitted that he has become frustrated at the lack of regular first-team football.

The Belgian international only managed to full games of 90 minutes in a Spurs shirt last season as Mauricio Pochettino has preferred to play with a holding pair of Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb.

Personally, I prefer to see Dembele playing in a more attacking role behind Harry Kane, he has the creativity we need to unlock a defence.

“I’ve played so few minutes, it is a big disappointment to me,” Dembele told Belgian outlet Sporza. “At one point I showed what I’ve got and I thought I took my chance, but as quickly again I fell out of the team.

“Do I get little credit at Tottenham? Yes, I have that feeling at times, but it is ultimately down to me. I have to stay positive. I am still confident.”

  1. Earn your spot first, then piss and moan. Pochettino obviously figures Dembele has maxed out his skill set and is giving Mason and Bentaleb a chance to develop. Those two are young and angry like Kane, Dier, Chadli and a few others, and if they keep it up this team is going to have a permanent angry snarl to go along with an aggressive style. That's the problem with Dembele, Paulinho, Soldado, Lamela and Adebayor. You can't picture any of them smacking Jack Wilshere in the teeth. I can picture Mason taking a tire iron to someone pretty easily.
