‘Depends on the official offers’ – Journalist reveals rumoured Spurs target’s transfer priority

Argentine journalist Cesar Luis Merlo has revealed that rumoured Tottenham target Paulo Dybala does not have a preference to join one specific club this summer and is open to playing in Italy, Spain, England or Germany.

Since Juventus CEO Maurizio Arrivabene confirmed last week that Dybala will leave the Serie A club when his current deal runs out in the summer (TuttoMercatoWeb), the speculation over the forward’s future has run rife.

Tottenham are said to be one of the clubs keen on landing the Argentina international on a free transfer this summer (Gazzetta dello Sport).

Sky Italia have named Spurs as one of the three leading contenders for the Juve star’s signature, along with Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Foot Mercato have suggested that the 28-year-old could be bound for Paris Saint-Germain, with the player already said to have asked his entourage about a potential move to the Ligue 1 giants.

Merlo has now explained that Dybala is yet to make up his mind about his future and is open to offers from top European clubs.

The TyC Sports journalist told Calciomercato.it: “He (Dybala) wants a great club. But in reality, there are many polls, the most concrete one is from Inter for his relationship with (Nerazzurri chairman) Beppe Marotta. But I think the decision will come at the end of the season. It will be quite a long story.

“Barcelona made a survey because they are mainly looking for players who are expiring their contracts. But in reality, today Dybala has no concrete offer written on the table. He does not have a preference on the future, to continue in Serie A or go to another league.

“His priority is to continue to compete at high levels and Italy, Spain, Germany, England are all at very high levels. His expectation is a club similar to Juve in importance, but then it depends on the official offers that will arrive.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The likes of Atletico, Inter and Barca arguably need a player of Dybala’s profile much more than Tottenham do, given how Kulusevski has hit the ground running at the North London club. So, I do not expect us to win the race for the Argentine’s signature.
