Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham had been working on a deal for Dominic Solanke for many weeks before finally managing to strike an agreement a few days ago.

Spurs have been looking at Solanke all summer
Until a few weeks ago, Solanke’s name was not mentioned by many outlets as Tottenham’s top striker target, with the likes of Ivan Toney and Jonathan David being more heavily linked with a move to the North London club (Football.London).
That got some Spurs fans on social media to think that Solanke perhaps was not Ange Postecoglou’s top target, with many questioning why Spurs did not move for him earlier if he was, given that the 26-year-old was not at the Euros.
However, Romano has now taken to social media to state that contrary to some suggestions, the Lilywhites first reached out to Bournemouth regarding the Englishman many weeks ago.

Spurs finally get their man
The journalist also asserted that despite the links to various strikers, Solanke was always the one who Postecoglou wanted.
Romano tweeted: “Spurs have been working on this deal for weeks despite all denials, he was the top target for Postecoglou despite other links.”
Ange Postecoglou also commented on the signing yesterday, stating: “Solanke was one I was very keen to get in. It took a while to get over the line but he’ll be a great fit for us, I’m sure.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Not only have the likes of Gold and Romano said that Solanke was our top target but Ange himself has admitted that the former Cherries star is the one he wanted.
Despite this and the fact that Spurs have broken their transfer record to sign the 26-year-old, Levy’s critics have somehow still found a way to have a go at the Spurs chairman, which tells you all you need to know about their bias.
