‘Despite recent stories’ – Fabrizio Romano provides update on Kane and Man United

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United remain focused on a deal for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund despite the recent developments on Harry Kane’s future.

Over the last 24 hours, multiple outlets have reported that Tottenham’s majority owner, Joe Lewis, has informed Daniel Levy that Kane must be sold this summer if he does not agree to sign a new contract at Spurs, which is thought to be worth around £400,000 per week (Daily Mail).

The Daily Mirror revealed on Sunday evening the England captain was delivered an ultimatum that he will be sold if he does not sign a new deal, thus Man Utd are now back on ‘red alert’.

The outlet explained that the Red Devils had called off their pursuit of Kane earlier in the window as they considered Tottenham’s £110m asking price to be unreasonable but there is now renewed hope at Old Trafford that the striker’s price could come down following the Lilywhites’ ultimatum.

Kane is still not a priority for Man United

However, Romano has now taken to social media to explain that despite the reports linking the Tottenham man with a move to United, the Manchester club remain fully focused on signing Hojlund.

The journalist claimed that Man Utd have already agreed personal terms with the Denmark international and are ‘soon’ expected to launch their opening offer for the 20-year-old.

I do not think Levy would reconsider his stance of not wanting to sell Kane to a Premier League club.

So, unless the 29-year-old digs his heals in and pushes to join Man Utd (which he evidently does not seem to be doing), a sale to Bayern Munich appears to be the most likely outcome.
