Destiny Udogie injury update after Tottenham star goes down against Eintracht Frankfurt

Destiny Udogie has put Tottenham Hotspur fans at ease by confirming the knock that forced him off late against Eintracht Frankfurt was nothing more than cramp.

The first leg of Tottenham Hotspur’s two-legged European tie is now behind them, with a trip to Germany still to come next week.

Goals from Pedro Porro and Hugo Ekitike were enough to share the spoils at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and, given the chances created by Spurs, one would hope they don’t rue those missed chances.

Many could have predicted Ange Postecoglou’s XI against Frankfurt on Thursday, as he was expected to go with his strongest side, and he did just that. The only change he made was taking out Djed Spence for Destiny Udogie.

Destiny Udogie impresses for Tottenham but confirms fatigue after Frankfurt draw

Udogie performed really well on the night, and one could argue it was his best performance yet for Tottenham. The full-back never stopped running, constantly overlapping Heung-min Son and getting into dangerous positions on the byline for cutbacks into the box.

Defensively, he was astute, with Eintracht Frankfurt barely getting a sniff down that left-hand side where he held his own.

However, many Tottenham fans would’ve been concerned when they saw him drop to the ground late on, looking like he had picked up a knock before being replaced by Djed Spence in the 79th minute.

Well, it’s now been confirmed by the defender himself that it was nothing serious—just cramp and fatigue at the end. This update comes via a tweet from Rob Daly, a commentator for Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs will need Destiny Udogie fit for the second leg in Germany

Tottenham Hotspur simply cannot afford to pick up any more injuries at this stage of the season. Ange Postecoglou is going to need all three of his full-backs fit and firing ahead of their trip to Germany, especially with the possibility of extra time looming in that tie.

Perhaps Udogie is given a rest this Sunday, only to be unleashed once again next Thursday, when Spurs will need his energy and drive down the left-hand side.
