Destiny Udogie linked with Serie A return amid interest from Italian giant

One Tottenham defender, who had a strong end to the season after a difficult start to the campaign, is now on the transfer radar of AC Milan.

A lot of Tottenham’s star players failed to hit the expected heights consistently through the 2024-25 campaign, but many big names stepped up towards the end as the Lilywhites made history by lifting the Europa League trophy in Bilbao.

One of those players was Destiny Udogie, who played a crucial role in the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals after struggling for consistency earlier in the campaign, and at times, even losing his place in the side to Djed Spence.

Ange Postecoglou backed Udogie to be one of Tottenham’s most important players over the coming years, but a return to the Serie A has now been mooted for the defender this summer.

AC Milan plotting a move for Destiny Udogie

This update comes from Monday’s print edition of Corriere della Sera (as relayed by Sport Witness), who say that Udogie has emerged as a target for the Rossoneri this summer.

It is explained that Theo Hernandez will leave the San Siro after failing to agree on a contract extension, with the club’s hierarchy now looking to sign a replacement.

Milan’s new head coach Massimiliano Allegri and their new sporting director Igli Tare have identified the Tottenham man and Leeds United’s Junior Firpo as their top targets.

It is however suggested that Udogie would be an expensive aquisition and point to the fact that the left-back’s agent had previously played down suggestions of his client returning to Serie A.

Therefore they suggest that Milan are more likely to raid Elland Road for Firpo rather than testing the waters for the Italy international.

Destiny Udogie has previously attracted interest from Man City

Over the last couple of months, several reports claimed that Udogie has emerged as a target for Man City ahead of the summer, thankfully, City instead are said to be setting their sights on Wolves’ Rayan Ait Nouri.

It is said Tottenham have no intention of selling Udogie this summer, with the Lilywhites instead thought to want to add further reinforcements at left-back to provide further cover for the Italian international.

With the former Udinese man having five years left on his contract, Spurs are well-protected and are under no pressure to sell the 22-year-old.
