Leroy Rosenior has admitted that he was pleasantly surprised by how well Oliver Skipp played in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.
Skipp has found starts hard to come by under Ange Postecoglou this season, coming on as a substitute for the vast majority of his appearances so far this season.
Last Sunday, the 23-year-old got a rate start as Tottenham were short of options in the middle of the park, with Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr away at the African Cup of Nations while James Maddison and Giovani Lo Celso are out injured.
The Tottenham academy graduate gave a decent account of himself alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur, with the away side dictating proceedings for large parts of the encounter.

Oliver Skipp impressed against Manchester United
Following the 2-2 draw, Rosenior told Premier League Productions: “You mention Richarlison and Werner but what really impressed me was the performance of Oliver Skipp.
“Skipp went into that side and I didn’t think he had it in him. He did it in the Championship, I thought he’d just be a squad player, but he was excellent.”
It was reported by Football.London’s Alasdair Gold last week Skipp has no intention of leaving Tottenham on a temporary deal this month, instead wanting to remain at the club and fight for his place in the side.
Spurs Web Opinion
A lot of Spurs fans have been quite harsh in their assessments of Skipp off late. One cannot expect any player to produce their best unless they have a run of starts under their belt.
The 23-year-old looked on the verge of being a starter for England just 18 months ago and he could look a completely different player if he rebuilds his confidence.
