‘Different class’ – Jenas lavishes praise on two Spurs stars after international display

Jermaine Jenas has praised Tottenham duo Joe Rodon and Ben Davies after they helped Wales to a 2-1 win over Austria on Thursday, which took them a step closer to the World Cup in 2022.

Wales set up in their usual back three, with Ben Davies occupying the left centre-back role – a position in which he has thrived in under Antonio Conte at Spurs.

Rodon, who has struggled for game time since Conte’s arrival, started as the central sweeper, with Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu, who is on loan at Venezia, starting on the right side.

The trio put in an accomplished defensive display while former Tottenham man Gareth Bale produced the goods at the other end of the pitch, netting a brilliant brace to help Wales progress to the next round.

Robert Page’s side will now play the winner of the clash between Scotland and Ukraine for a place in the World Cup in Qatar.

Here’s how Jenas reacted to Wales’ 2-1 win:

Some Spurs fans might look at Rodon’s performances for Wales and wonder why he does not get a look in at Tottenham.

However, the fact that three different Spurs managers have had reservations about playing the Welsh centre-back, suggests that there might be some glaring shortcomings in his game.

I would not be surprised if Tottenham cash in on the former Swansea man this summer.
