‘Different class’ – Jenas names Sporting player he would sign – not Edwards

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas has revealed that if he had to take sign Sporting CP player, it would be right-back Pedro Porro.

It was the ex-Spurs academy graduate Marcus Edwards who broke the deadlock early on when his dribbling ability once again caused Antonio Conte’s side havoc before unleashing a shot from outside the box which beat Hugo Lloris.

Despite Edwards’ impressive display, Jenas was left to admire the performance of Porro, who bombed up and down the right flank and certainly caused issues for both Ivan Perisic and Ben Davies.

Porro displayed good crossing ability, something which Tottenham have lacked this season as a result of Emerson Royal’s struggles to play the right pass when he is in possession in the other half of pitch.

Jenas, who was on co-commentary duty for BT Sport 3 during Tottenham’s match against Sporting on Wednesday evening (26/10/22) said: “There’s a lot of talented players in the team, but if there was one I could take from this team it would be Porro. He is different class,”

Antonio Conte is known for wanting his wing-backs to be creators in his side and even provide opportunities for the wing-back on the other side of the pitch.   Emerson Royal is more of a traditional defender and has spurned many good opportunities already this season, Fabio Paratici and co need to revaluate whether to bring in more of an attack-minded wing-back to battle it out with Matt Doherty.
