‘Difficult to predict’ – Pundit reveals whether he thinks Spurs have top-four chance

Chris Sutton has insisted that Tottenham still have a chance of finishing in the top four after their 5-0 win over Everton but admitted it is difficult to predict which version of Antonio Conte’s men are likely to turn up.

Tottenham needed a response following their elimination from the FA Cup at the hands of Middlesbrough last week and they certainly delivered, racing into a three-goal lead within 37 minutes.

The Toffees found the Lilywhites’ movement difficult to cope with and in the end, the home side could have won even more handsomely if they had not taken the foot of the pedal in the final 30 minutes.

Conte insisted in the post-match press conference that his side needed to treat all their 12 remaining matches like finals and look to beat the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and West Ham to fourth place (Football.London).

Sutton praised the North Londoners’ showing on Monday but claimed that Everton made it easy for them on the night.

The former Blackburn Rovers striker said on BBC Radio 5 Live (at 21:56 on 07/03): “Spurs were excellent but it was so, so easy. Everton were spineless, gutless, where do they go from here? They were hopeless.

“Spurs are so difficult to predict from one game to the next, tonight they were brilliant. Son’s runs caused Everton problems all night.

“Everton lacked confidence and belief. Kulusevski was absolutely brilliant for Spurs. They still have hope of a top-four finish.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The one advantage we have over both West Ham and Man Utd is the fact that we can now solely concentrate on the race for the top-four without the distraction of cup or European matches.

We have tended to give a decent account of ourselves under Conte whenever we have had more than a few days to prepare for matches.

However, Arsenal currently look like the favourites for fourth and the race might be decided by the result of the North London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
