Dimitar Berbatov makes confident claim about Tottenham title hopes

Despite Spurs being turned over 2-0 by Leicester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, Dimitar Berbatov still believes that the North Londoners are very much in the title race.

It was just a few days ago that Spurs were sitting pretty at the summit of the Premier League table and were being looked at as a strong contender for the title.

However, back to back losses to both Liverpool and Leicester City have seen them fall to fifth place, six points behind the league leaders.

Although there are still plenty of games left in the campaign, it looks like Jose Mourinho’s men could have a hard task on their hands to catch the Reds, who seem to have hit a good run of form.

When asked whether the result on Sunday was a blow to his sides’ ambition, Mourinho chose to remain coy and insisted that his side’s objective remains to try and win every single game (Football.London).

Berbatov believes that the Lilywhites could still go all the way this season. When asked if Mourinho’s men can win the title, the former Spurs striker said on his Instagram story: “Yes, I think they are real challenge contenders.

“Hopefully, hopefully, they can do it. But it’s going to be difficult.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is not that a six-point gap is insurmountable, particularly at this stage of the season, but the performance on Sunday just showed the frailties that we could have when we come against teams who defend with a low block. We just did not look like scoring in the second half despite having quite an attacking team out there and looking to press from the front.
