Dimitar Berbatov predicts his Premier League top-four for the 2019/20 season

Tottenham Hotspur are now just five days away from kicking off the new 2019/20 Premier League season at their new ground against Aston Villa.

While Spurs did well to scrape a top-four spot last season in the Prem, they will be looking to do a lot better under Pochettino this time around.

Tottenham had a welcomed distraction of a Champions League run to the final towards the end of last season, as their Premier League form slipped dramatically.

However, up until a point in the new year, Spurs were keeping pace with the likes of Liverpool and City at the top.

The Lilywhites have also gone out and smashed their transfer record to bring in Tanguy Ndombele this summer in order to bolster their central midfield (BBC).

However, ex-Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov believes this won’t be enough for his old team to bridge the gap to last year’s top two.

Berba does believe that Spurs can take third though (Mirror): “Unfortunately I need to say it but I think Manchester City will be champions again, then Liverpool. They are the top two.

“Then I think Spurs and then Chelsea. I say Chelsea because I saw them play under Frank Lampard and I like his philosophy a lot.

“And then, of course, you have the usual suspects, Arsenal and Man United.

“Hopefully we see someone from the rest of the pack – the other teams who are coming up. For example Wolves, I enjoyed watching them last season.

“Hopefully there is no fatigue as they are playing in Europe.”
