Dimitar Berbatov reveals why players will be getting angry at Tottenham

Dimitar Berbatov admits Tottenham need to win another trophy soon, but he thinks all the talk around silverware will anger the current Spurs squad.

It has been a long time since Tottenham won a trophy. No Spurs fans needs to be reminded. The last time a piece of silverware was lifted, Berbatov himself was on the scoresheet.

In fact, 61 different players have left Tottenham and won trophies elsewhere since the Lilywhites last tasted success of their own.

With the Europa League quarter-final coming up in April, Ange Postecoglou and his Spurs squad have a great chance to finally end the drought. However, Eintracht Frankfurt will provide a stern test across two legs.

Dimitar Berbatov says Spurs stars will be angry at trophy talk

When asked about the importance of Tottenham lifting a trophy soon, Dimitar Berbatov stated that the current squad will be angry at pundits repeating the same thing over and over again.

Berbatov exclusively told Spurs Web: “It’s always important for anyone to win a trophy but in the case of Spurs it’s been a long time – everybody knows that, everybody keeps repeating it.

“Sometimes, I imagine the players playing now in the team will get angry because everybody is repeating the same stuff. So, they know it, everybody knows it and let’s hope it’s going to happen sooner rather than later.”

Tottenham given a slim chance of Europa League success

According to Opta stats, Tottenham only have an 18.4% chance of lifting the Europa League trophy this season.

Not only will they have to overcome Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals across two legs – a team who are currently fourth in the Bundesliga – but also would also have difficult semi-finals and a final on the horizon.

Tottenham will face the winner of the quarter-final between Lazio and Bodo/Glimt in the semi-final. In the final, they could get any one of Manchester United, Lyon, Athletic Bilbao, or Rangers.
