Director of Football claims his Spurs-linked striker is likely Premier League-bound

Amiens Director of Football, John Williams, has claimed that striker, Serhou Guirassy, could be Premier League-bound this summer.

The centre-forward has enjoyed a fine season for Amiens this year, netting nine goals in 23 Ligue 1 appearances (transfermarkt) so far.

The Daily Mail recently reported that Tottenham sent scouts to take a look at Guirassy when Amiens played Paris Saint-Germain back in February.

The 24-year-old netted a brace in the encounter and Tottenham scout Brian Carey, who was in attendance at the Stade de la Licorne, was said to have been left suitably impressed by Guirassy’s display.

The Sun reported in March that Chelsea were also interested in signing the Amiens star, who is said to be available for a fee of around £18 million (Le11Ameinois).

Williams has now boosted the Lilywhites’ hopes of landing Gurassy by hinting that Amiens will sell the striker to a Premier League club this summer.

Speaking to L’Equipe (as relayed Le11Amienois), Williams said: “Last year, nobody had more players than us who left in the Premier League. This year, (Serhou) Guirassy and (Nicholas) Opoku should go there.”

While it is clear from Guirassy’s record that he isn’t a prolific goalscorer, he is quite adept at bringing others into play and has a presence inside the box. Therefore, he does fit the profile that Mourinho is looking for. I would imagine that Amiens will likely have to lower their £18m asking price in order to move him on this summer due to the financial impact of the coronavirus crisis. So Spurs might be tempted to take advantage of the scenario and land him in a bargain deal.
