Director of Serie A club claims Spurs star is a summer transfer target

The director of Serie A side, Bologna, Walter Sabatini, has claimed that Erik Lamela is a possible summer transfer target for the Italian club.

Sabatini said that the club were currently trying to see whether Lamela would be available, with the quotes being reported by transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano. Sabatini was actually the man who signed Lamela for Roma back in 2011.

However, Romano added at the bottom of his tweet that Lamela is currently happy in North London with Tottenham.

The Argentine had a mixed game against Arsenal in the North London Derby earlier this month, both pulling off one of the goals of the season and seeing red.

The attacking midfielder is seemingly a popular figure under Jose Mourinho, with Lamela featuring 29 times across all competitions this season, scoring four and assisting once (TransferMarkt).

However, Lamela’s current contract expires in the summer of 2022, meaning that he will be entering the final year of his Spurs deal at the end of this season.

Sabatini said (Fabrizio Romano): “Erik Lamela is a potential target. We’re trying to see if there are chances to sign Lamela from Spurs… and it’s not sure. We’ll see.”
