‘Dismayed’ Supporters’ Trust reacts to increase in Spurs season ticket prices

Tottenham Hotspur have announced season ticket prices will be going up by 6% for next season, and the club’s Supporters’ Trust has responded with dismay and opposition to the proposals.

With the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium being one of the most impressive venues in the world of sport, and an average attendance of 61,872 (Football.London), it’s safe to say seats in the ground are hot property.

Spurs have become one of the richest clubs in football over the last few years. According to the Deloitte football money league, the Lilywhites are now eighth in the world when it comes to revenue generated over the year.

While Daniel Levy has often come in for criticism from fans of the club, his handling of the commercial and economic side of things has been hard to question.

Supporters’ Trust opposes season ticket price increase

However, it has today been announced that the club intends to raise season ticket prices by 6% next season, and a statement from the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust has hit back at the plans.

The statement reveals the Trust is “dismayed” by the proposals and adds, “We oppose any Season Ticket increase and the removal or reduction of Senior concessions, both of which are also opposed by the Fan Advisory Board.”

It is said the Trust met with the club on February 21st, when they were presented with the proposal for price increases. The Trust “disagreed on several areas and as a result of our input, changes were made,” but the 6% increase still remains.

The Trust has branded the “complete removal” of new Senior concessions as “unacceptable,” and while a discount will remain for next season, the fact the prices will change in 2025/26 means the plan for next year will be of “little comfort” to those affected.

Apparently, the club claims the number of senior concession ticket holders has quadrupled since the opening of the new stadium, and that these prices are “not sustainable,” but the Trust has hit back, claiming “these changes pull the rug out from under the feet of pensioners after years of loyal support.”

The statement concludes by suggesting “a fuller discussion at the beginning of this process” would have helped to come to a solution that would satisfy all parties.

Price increases are never going to be popular, but a better process of communication with the Trust would surely have been the logical way to approach this. The club is in a really positive place right now, and this just sours it a little.
