Report: Spurs are ready to accept offers for two 23-year-olds this summer

Tottenham Hotspur look set to clear out a number of players who are surplus to requirements this summer, and Djed Spence and Bryan Gil could be the first two out of the door with the club ready to accept offers for the young duo.

Gil signed for Spurs in 2021 in a big money move from Sevilla, but has utterly failed to adapt to the demands of the Premier League. He’s spent the majority of his time away on loan, back in Spain, and when he has been in England he has struggled for minutes.

The Spaniard is keen on a return to Spain and would like to rejoin Sevilla permanently, with Spurs wanting just £6m to let him go.

Spence, meanwhile, was signed in the summer of 2022 amid a great deal of excitement. However, the Englishman barely got a look in under Antonio Conte, and the same happened when Postecoglou arrived.

He has spent this season on loan with Leeds United — a deal that was cut short in January — before joining Genoa until the end of the campaign. Spence has been fairly impressive in Italy, though, and it is believed the Serie A side are considering making his stay permanent (Caught Offside).

Spence and Gil are heading for the exit door at Spurs

It seems both players have now come to the end of the road at Spurs, with exits planned for the summer, and Spurs are now ready to discuss a deal for the pair.

Football Insider have the latest report on the situation, both players are “well down the pecking order” at Tottenham and are very much “expected to move on” in the near future.

However, there is thought to be “little interest” in either player but Spurs will push to get them out of the door this summer as Postecoglou looks to “bring in some extra funds” to facilitate the signings he wants.

Spurs Web Opinion

I’ve been really disappointed that Spence hasn’t worked out for us, because he would be the perfect deputy to Pedro Porro if he just got his attitude right.

These two players have to leave this summer, for the interests of everyone involved.
