Tottenham’s Djed Spence has taken to social media to send an ‘I told you so’ message after his former teammate starred in the biggest game on the footballing calendar: The Champions League final.
The Tottenham full-back is on holiday, basking in the glory of the club’s Europa League success, and he watched one of his former teammates steal the show in the Champions League final as Paris Saint-Germain brushed aside Inter Milan 5-0 at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.
Desire Doue, who Spence played alongside during his loan spell at Rennes last year, scored a brace for the Parisians to cap off what has been an impressive debut season in the French capital.
Spence had previously referred to Doue as a generational talent, and the Tottenham man’s statement has been vindicated, with the 19-year-old finishing his first season at PSG with 15 goals and 16 assists.

During last summer’s transfer window, several outlets claimed that Tottenham were plotting a move for Desire Doue, but it was PSG who ultimately secured the versatile attacker for €50m (£41.7m) from Rennes.
Spence has just taken to social media to point out that he tried to tell everyone just how good the French international is.
The right-back took a leaf straight out of Ange Postecoglou’s address to Spurs fans during the trophy parade, by stating: “I tried to tell em, they laughed.”

Saturday’s result means that Tottenham now know that they will face PSG in the UEFA Super Cup final on August 13 in what promises to be an exciting start to the season for Spurs fans.
Tottenham have some good omens ahead of the Super Cup final as they look to secure their second trophy in just a matter of months.
If Doue starts on the flank for PSG, there is a good chance that he will come up against Spence, and that will certainly be a mouth-watering battle between two players who appear to be close friends off the field.
