Do you want Gallas at Spurs?

William Gallas

Tottenham Hotspur are set to complete the signing of William Gallas later today.

The French defender is without a club and would join on a free transfer after he left Arsenal at the end of the last campaign.

Spurs fans seem to be split on the fact that Gallas could be joining us. We all know he had four years at Arsenal and prior to that spent five years at Chelsea – but on a one-year deal and apparently willing to take a wage reduction he could turn out to be a good signing.

We all know the problems which Ledley King has, Jonathan Woodgate is still sidelined and Michael Dawson is without a regular centre-half partner. Bassong looked shaky against Young Boys and the experience of Gallas for a season could really help the young Cameroon international in his footballing education.

  1. he isnt the world class centre back that he once was, i wouldnt have him above a fit ledly or daws but judging on what we all saw against young boys he is what we need in the CL someone who has been there and done it.
dont like the sound of pinaar though. would much rather young

  2. Good move for all concerned. He has the experience we need at a price we can afford. Pat Jennings played for Arse but he is still my best rated goalkeeper. Players move clubs either voluntarily or otherwise fans need to appreciate that and judge players on the pitch not by who they played for before.

  3. It concerns me a little that we might be picking up a player who, if he is so good, why did Le Arse let him go?
On an unrelated note, it’s good to see you guys have finally paid your hosting fees, haven’t been able to get on here the past couple of days.

  4. The main problem I see with our defence is that it has very little pace when being put under preasure.
If we had to give the scum money for him then id say no but being that he's on a free, he's got a bit of pace still and has CL experience, I say its a good buy……
However, there were a lot of talks when he was at Chelski and Ar5ena1 about his attitude and negative impact in the dressing room….not sure if they were true or whether 'Arry can manage him effectively…….
Proof will be in the puddin i guess..

  5. Personally I think it's a shrewd move provided Gallas is in the right shape, physically and mentally. He is a strong presence on the field and having him for this season where we'll need experience in the CL (providing we get past YB) is key. It also gives us time to actually look for quality CL that is required given Ledley's not going to feature in every game and Woody is a long-term injury (if he makes it back at all). Bassong for me is still a young player learning his trade and Dawson performs far better with a good solid player next to him.

  6. I don't like the idea of a former Gooner playing for us but if he can get us another top 4 finish then I can look past it. It's about the future at Spurs now, forget the past.

  7. I wouldn't mine gallas at all as a backup cover he is very experienced and with the mistake are defence did vs the young boys and plus its a free transfer

  8. It’s a shame but clearly not a massive blow considering the signing of sandro. However if there was a way of getting him it would boost the squad. Coys
