Doctor claims injured Spurs star will feature for club before World Cup

Brazilian national team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar has claimed that Richarlison has made significant progress and is expected to feature for Tottenham this week.

Richarlison picked up a calf injury in Tottenham’s 3-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt last month but Antonio Conte quickly clarified that the injury was not as serious as initially feared and the forward would be fit to travel to Qatar (Football.London).

Although the former Everton man is yet to return to action, he has been named in Brazil’s 26-man squad for the World Cup (ESPN), which suggests that the Selecao expect him to be fit for the competition.

Tottenham have two more games before the mid-season break for the World Cup – A Carabao Cup third-round clash against Nottingham Forest and a Premier League match against Leeds United.

Lasmar has now revealed that he has been in touch with Richarlison and the forward is expected to train with his Spurs teammates this week.

He told Globo Esporte (07/11/22 as relayed by Sport Witness): “Last week we visited Richarlison and Paquetá in London to see the evolution of his injury.

“Our assessment is that he had a really big improvement, this week he should train with the group and he has a chance to be used by the club before the presentation. We are confident that Richarlison can be fully available to Tite.”

This is great news but I doubt that Conte would want to risk Richarlison against Forest or Leeds unless the forward is 100 per cent fit. With Kulusevski and Moura now back in action (and neither of them going to the World Cup), the Spurs boss will perhaps look to make do without the former Everton man.
