‘Does not really add up’ – Sutton provides score prediction for Spurs vs Leeds

Chris Sutton thinks Antonio Conte’s suggestion that his players are tired does not make sense, given that Tottenham have tended to finish matches strongly over recent weeks.

After a strong start to the season, the wheels have come off for Spurs over recent weeks, with the Lilywhites having lost three of their last four Premier League games, including back-to-back defeats at home.

However, Spurs have tended to put in strong second-half performances in several of those games after going into the interval with a deficit.

Following Tottenham’s 2-0 loss against Nottingham Forest in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, Conte admitted that his players were both mentally and physically drained at having to play 12 games in a short period of time (Football.London).

However, Sutton backed Spurs to return to winning ways against Leeds on Saturday if the likes of Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski are fit enough to start.

The pundit told BBC Sport about the upcoming clash: “I’ve really not got a clue what will happen here. Spurs boss Antonio Conte says his players are tired, yet they have this record of fighting back in games this season – so that does not really add up.

“I was genuinely delighted for Leeds boss Jesse Marsch that he followed up his win at Liverpool by beating Bournemouth, because he has had a bit of flak this season.

“I am really not sure about Tottenham’s defence but they have to respond here after a bad week and, with Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski in contention to start, they will be dangerous.

“This is the type of game where either side could win it, even if they fall behind – but I am going to go with Spurs.”

Prediction: 3-1.

Spurs Web Opinion

There will definitely be goals in this game, given the style that Leeds employ. Hopefully, we do not make the mistake of conceding first again. Despite our losses to Newcastle and Liverpool, I thought we played well in large parts of both matches, and I would back us to get overturn Leeds at home.
