Some Tottenham fans on social media are divided on whether it would make sense for the North London giants to pursue the signing of Leicester winger Demarai Gray.
The Times claimed that Tottenham are have set their sights on the former Birmingham player, who only has a year left on his contract at Leicester.
It is reported that Spurs believe they could potentially strike a cut-price deal for the 24-year-old when the transfer window opens.
The England Under-21 international has fallen down the pecking order at Brendan Rodgers’ side, with Harvey Barnes, Ayoze Perez and Marc Albrighton seemingly ahead of him.
It is fair to say that Gray has failed to hit the heights that many of expected him when he broke into the Leicester side as a teenager after signing from Birmingham City.
Rodgers has used Gray more as an impact sub than a starter recently and it is unclear if the winger will sign a new deal with the Foxes.
Some Spurs fans have questioned the logic behind signing another wide player, an area where that the Lilywhites are well equipped.
They insisted that the club needed to prioritise additions in other areas of the pitch.
However, some others were a bit more sympathetic about Spurs’ rumoured interest in the Leicester star and suggested that he could be a solid addition to the squad.
Don't get the way we keep being linked with wide forward players, it's one of the strongest areas of our squad.

Demarai Gray just screams a Levy signing

That Demarai Gray gossip would suggest we'll sell at least one winger if he came in, getting too crowded in those positions and we have enough areas to improve already. #COYS #THFC

Underused at Leicester. Genuinely think he’s a prospect, we should snap him up especially if he’s on the cheap. Direct running, has a trick in him, can play wide and cross, why not? Must be on tiny wage there too. Ticks boxes.

How many years are we going to be linked with him? He's 24 and rarely plays. He needs to go somewhere where he can play regularly, not trade one bench for another.

Seeing a few Demarai Gray rumours this morning, I’d personally be chuffed, always thought he was a top talent 🔥

Demarai gray , not another winger we don't need another wide man.

Weren't we linked with Demarai Gray when he went to Leicester? He's done very little of note in those four years and now we are linked with him again. Sounds about right.

I refuse to believe we want to sign Demarai Gray. Doesn’t make one ounce of sense.

Spurs Web Opinion
Based on the players we have been linked with so far, it is clear that we are seemingly after one more wide option this summer. I believe that could be a sign that Jose wants to employ a 4-3-3 next season, and wants four wide players competing for the two positions (Son, Bergwijn, Lucas, plus one).
I believe Gray will be a fantastic addition to the squad as he is up there with the best impact substitutes in the Premier League. His pace and willingness to take people on will be an asset for us especially if we are soaking up pressure and counter-attacking teams. If a cut-price deal for Gray can be completed, it can potentially be a masterstroke.
Have something to tell us about this article?
Just the usual made up rumours based on the fact that previous made up rumours have linked us
Why on earth would we want an inconsistent winger who rarely makes the first team when we have the likes of Son, Moura, Bergwijn, Lamela and Sessegnon competing for the wide attacking roles?
If we want to improve this summer we need some etter players in certain positions not a lesser player in an area we are strong in
