‘Doesn’t need to prove anything’ – Ben Davies hits back at Gareth Bale critics

Ben Davies has confidently asserted that it is only a matter of time before we see the best of Gareth Bale in a Tottenham shirt once again.

Bale has only started one Premier League game since returning to Tottenham, with most of the Welshman’s minutes coming in the Europa League (transfermarkt.com).

Jose Mourinho has insisted that he is happy with the 31-year-old’s progression and that the winger will be able to play more regularly once his body gets accustomed to multiple games each week.

Former Tottenham striker, Darren Bent suggested earlier this week that the Spurs boss may be running out of patience with Bale (talkSPORT).

The striker claimed that the North Londoners could end his season-long loan prematurely if the winger does not start producing on the pitch.

However, Davies is confident that his compatriot’s quality will shine through this season and insisted that he does not have anything to prove.

When asked if we are likely to see the best of Bale this season, the left-back told Football.London: “Yeah 100 per cent, I think Gareth’s an amazing player.

“He doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone – he’s shown what he can do over the years.

“He’s got the quality there and I’m sure it will shine through at Spurs this year.”
