PA Sport reporter George Sessions has revealed that Dominic Solanke’s absence from Bournemouth’s pre-season friendly on Sunday has nothing to do with any potential move to Tottenham.

Solanke was not part of Bournemouth’s squad for their 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.

That led to some speculation on social media regarding what it means for the centre-forward’s future, given that he has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham over recent weeks.

However, Sessions has now made it clear the Englishman missed the game due to an injury he sustained in training on Saturday rather than anything to do with a potential transfer.

The journalist added that while Spurs indeed hold a serious interest in the 26-year-old, the Cherries are in a strong position to retain their star man, who is protected by a £65m release clause.

This update comes on the back of multiple reports suggesting that the South Coast club would only let Solanke leave if the release clause is met (The Mirror).

Just like with the Eberechi Eze deal, the Solanke one seems like a clear scenario for Spurs.

The North London club know that they would have to meet the player’s release clause in order to sign him this summer.
