‘Done deal’ – Di Marzio provides update on Spurs’ pursuit of central defender

Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed on Twitter that Clement Lenglet’s loan move to Tottenham Hotspur is a done deal.

Di Marzio has claimed that the Barcelona defender is now set to move to north London ahead of the new season

Sky Sports reported earlier today that a source close to the Frenchman that a move to Spurs would be his most likely destination if he was to leave the Nou Camp this summer.

Tottenham are looking to bring in another left-footed central defender to help bolster Antonio Conte’s squad as they look to compete on multiple fronts, having secured a return to the Champions League.

Lenglet made 27 appearances in all competitions for the Catalan giants last season (transfermarkt).

While Lenglet will add depth to Tottenham’s defensive options and provide competition for Ben Davies, it feels like something of a disappointment if the club are not going to bring in a high calibre player having been linked with the likes of Alessandro Bastoni, Josko Gvardiol and Pau Torres.
