‘Don’t have a clue’ – Roy Keane gives brutal response to Micah Richards’ Spurs comment

Roy Keane has taken a dig at Tottenham Hotspur by insisting that those who predicted earlier in the season that the North Londoners would be title contenders, do not have a clue about football.

Tottenham were sitting pretty at the top of the table until mid-December and many pundits were slowly coming around to the idea that Spurs could challenge for the league this season.

Jose Mourinho’s men looked defensively solid at the time with Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld seeming to have formed a solid partnership while Moussa Sissoko and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg were also shielding the backline expertly.

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min were arguably in the best form of their careers and it seemed as if Spurs were going to take some stopping.

However, not only have the goals dried up for Spurs in the last two months but the defence has also started to leak some poor goals.

Their poor run of form has seen the Lilywhites drop down to eighth place in the table and they currently trail league leaders Manchester City by a whopping 14 points.

Micah Richards was making a point about the unpredictability of the Premier League this season and pointed out that Tottenham were being backed to win the league at one point (on Super Sunday on Sky Sports – 07/02/21 at 1:10 pm)

However, Keane scoffed at those who suggested that the North Londoners were in the race.

Richards said: “Look at Spurs, look at Spurs. When they were top of the league everyone was saying ‘they were going to win the league’.

Keane interrupted and asked: “Who said they were going to win the league?”

Richards responded and said: “We were all talking like they were going to win the league.”

Keane then added: “Spurs, no. People who don’t have a clue about football.”

In fairness to Keane, it is hard to really disagree with him. Over the last four or five weeks, Spurs have proven almost all of their critics right with the type of uninspiring performances they have put in and their lack of consistency.
