‘Don’t laugh’ – Arsenal legend is confident he knows what will happen in Spurs clash

Emmanuel Petit is confident that Arsenal will emerge with a comfortable win from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this Sunday.

The tension is already building ahead of what will be one of the biggest North London derbies in living memory, with the Gunners coming to Tottenham’s home ground needing a win to keep the pressure on Manchester City.

Spurs’ hopes of qualifying for the Champions League have taken a blow due to some of their recent results but the Tottenham players will certainly not be lacking in motivation for the upcoming clash.

The Tottenham fans will be desperate to see their side dent the title hopes of the old enemy and they will create an extremely intimidating atmosphere for Mikel Arteta’s men.

Emmanuel Petit expects a simple Arsenal win

Gary Neville pointed out on Sky Sports earlier this week that the Arsenal players could not handle the pressure that Spurs fans put on them in a crucial fixture two years ago when both sides were battling for fourth place at a time.

He warned the Gunners that they will not have it easy this weekend either but Petit believes that this current Arsenal side is made of sterner stuff and backed them to ease to a win.

The Frenchman told talkSPORT: “It’s not I want Arsenal to win, they are going to win. No, don’t laugh guys, they’re going to win. It’s a different team from last season, honestly.

“They show great mentality and personality, they show composure all the time. It’s not the same Arsenal at the same point last season. Remember, they lost the plot probably mentally but they lost important players to injuries. It’s not the case this season.

“The reaction they did against Chelsea showed how good they are in terms of character and personality, how much they improved from last season. OK, it’s a big derby, (for) both teams (it’s) a must-win game for different reasons, but I still believe Arsenal are the best side away from home this season, the best attack, the best defence, for me it’s green lights.

“It will be an open game, I don’t see a close game, a tactical game, things like this, and I don’t want to that in derbies like that. I see something like a 3-1 for Arsenal.”

Spurs Web Opinion

One can understand why Petit is confident as this Arsenal side have shown that they have real character and are extremely resolute defensively. However, many of their players would not have experienced an atmosphere like the one they will on Sunday.
