“Don’t look secure” – Michael Owen shares his Burnley v Spurs prediction

Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League fixture at Turf Moor later this evening.

Last time out, Owen incorrectly predicted that Antonio Conte’s side would get thrashed 4-1 by Manchester City, when in fact it ended up as a 3-2 victory in Tottenham’s favour.

Tottenham have certainly kept fans on the edge of their seats recently with each of their past three league wins having come courtesy of 90th-minute goals.

The north Londoners have not picked up any fresh injury concerns following the weekend, with Oliver Skipp (groin) and Japhet Tanganga (knee) remaining sidelined, while Sergio Reguilon is doubtful after only recently returning from Covid (Spurs official).

He told BetVictor: “What a huge result that was for Burnley against Brighton. I didn’t see the win coming, let alone scoring three against such an organised Brighton defence. Weghorst took his goal brilliantly, he really could be the difference for this side.

“It was a crazy game at the Etihad, and somehow Spurs came out on top. I’m not sure how deserved it was, but one thing is for sure, Harry Kane was exceptional. His movement and finishing were typically brilliant, but it was his passing and hold up play that really caught the eye. I don’t think enough people realise how good a passer he is, he’s fantastic.

“I fancy Burnley to build on that win at the weekend. Spurs still don’t look secure at the back to me, and Lloris has had a few errors in recent weeks. I can see Burnley exploiting that and getting a goal. 1-1.”

Burnley will be full of confidence following their win against Brighton, however, if Tottenham must prove that the impressive win at the Etihad Stadium is not yet another false dawn and instead must take all three points to continue their push for a top four place.
