‘Don’t see any opportunity’ – Serie A director seems to rule out deal with Spurs

Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has played down talks of the Serie A club making a move for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, suggesting that the Italian side are not particularly keen on adding the Tottenham man or any other player to their squad.

Some Italian outlets over the last few weeks have indicated that Juventus are quite keen on securing Hojbjerg’s services.

This includes an update by Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) a little over a week ago, which suggested that Spurs are willing to loan the Dane to Juve as long as the deal includes an obligation to buy for €30m (£26m) next summer.

The outlet explained that the Bianconeri prefer an option to buy rather than on obligation and that they could potentially overcome the roadblock by offering one of Samuel Iling-Junior or Matias Soule to Tottenham.

However, at the start of this week, TuttoMercatoWeb suggested that the Premier League side’s £26m asking price is ‘too high’ for Juventus, who face an ‘uphill road’ in agreeing on a deal for the Dane during this month’s transfer window.

A couple of days ago, Gazzetta dello Sport even suggested that the Italian side could put off their pursuit of the 28-year-old until next summer’s transfer window.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Juventus is not likely

Giuntoli has now publicly insisted that Massimiliano Allegri’s men are not particularly keen on securing Hojbjerg’s services at the moment.

The Juve director said (via Fabrizio Romano): “Kalvin Phillips or Pierre-Emile Højbjerg? In this moment we don’t see any opportunity on a technical and financial point of view.

“We are not forced to sign a new player, we only look for correct opportunities and we can’t see anyone as of now.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is obvious that Giuntoli would not publicly admit that Juventus are keen on Hojbjerg as the Italian club’s aim would be to drive the midfielder’s price down. However, it is clear that the Bianconeri would have to sell some players to raise funds for a potential move for the Spurs midfielder.
