‘Don’t see it happening’ – Journalist calls midfielder ‘dream’ signing for Spurs

Journalist Dean Jones does not expect Tottenham’s pursuit of Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic to be successful.

It would not be off the mark to describe Brozovic as Mr Inter, with the midfielder having been a wonderful servant to the Nerazzurri since first arriving at the San Siro back in 2015.

The Croat has grown in stature considerably during his time at the club and is now one of the main leaders in the dressing room.  The 30-year-old was a fixture in the middle of the park for Antonio Conte’s Inter side, who broke Juventus’ stranglehold on the Scudetto back in 2021-22.

CMW.it claimed last month that Conte wants to reunite with Brozovic at Spurs and the North London club were considering an offer for the player in January

Mondo Calcio even asserted last week that the Lilywhites were at the front of the queue for the midfielder’s signature and were ready to launch ‘an onslaught’ for the player.

Jones believes that while Brozovic would be a major coup for Conte’s men, the Serie A club will not consider letting the experienced star leave the club.

When asked about Tottenham’s pursuit of the Inter star, the journalist told GiveMeSport: “Brozovic is part of the steelwork at Inter Milan. He’s so influential for them and brilliant.

“I can understand why Tottenham would be going after a player like this and he would be a dream addition to the midfield, but I just don’t see it happening.

“This would be an unbelievable signing and one that I just can’t believe Inter Milan would allow to happen.”

Brozovic’s current contract at the San Siro runs until the summer of 2026 (Transfermarkt). So, it will take a substantial offer to convince Inter to sell the midfielder, either in January or next summer. I cannot see Spurs spending around £50m on a player of the Croat’s profile when reinforcements are needed much more urgently in other areas of the pitch.
