‘Don’t want apologies’ – Spurs legend blasts lack of passion and bookings from club’s stars

Graham Roberts has not minced his words after Tottenham’s 3-1 loss at the Emirates on Sunday, accusing the Spurs stars of lacking commitment and desire.

Tottenham started the North London Derby extremely sluggishly and handed the initiative to the home side, who scored three goals without response within the first 34 minutes.

While Nuno Espirito Santo’s men did give a better account of themselves in the second half, they could only manage to pull one goal back late on through Son Heung-min.

The Spurs boss admitted after the game that he had made mistakes with the way he set his team up but also did not spare his players from criticism, stating that some of them did not fulfil the responsibilities expected of them.

Roberts was certainly left fuming by the performance of the Tottenham stars, with the legendary defender accusing the players of not showing passion for the badge.

He also implored them to roll their sleeves up and sort out the mess the club are in instead of feeling sorry for themselves.

Here’s what Roberts tweeted after Tottenham’s 3-1 loss:

Spurs Web Opinion

It is easy to talk about cliches like lacking passion and desire but what cost us the game was the silly tactical mistakes we made in the first 30 minutes.

Our central midfielders should have done more to track the Arsenal players’ runs into the box for two of the three goals that they scored. At this level, the game is usually done and dusted once a team goes a couple of goals down.
