‘Don’t want to rule out’ – Erik ten Hag speaks on Spurs interest after new Ajax deal

Erik ten Hag has already commented on the rumours linking him with a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer after the manager signed a new deal with Ajax.

Ten Hag’s contract with the Dutch giants was due to run out in the summer of 2022 but the club announced a one-year extension to the deal this morning.

Therefore, ten Hag has been ruled out of the race to replace Jose Mourinho at the helm of the North London club – a race that few seem to want to be a part of.

Ryan Mason, former Spurs academy graduate, remains in charge of the club until the end of the season as an interim head coach.

However, Alasdair Gold has claimed that Tottenham want a new head coach in charge before the end of the current campaign.

Ten Hag refused to rule out the possibility that he could have joined Spurs but was adamant that he is happy at Ajax.

He said (Jonathan Veal): “I don’t want to rule out that that could have happened, but I know what I have here. I know who I am working with, I know what the ideas are, I know what goals we have. I’m happy here. That’s where my head and heart are at.”
