“Don’t want to sell” – Fabrizio Romano provides update on Spurs’ centre-back hunt

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has given multiple updates on social media about Tottenham Hotspur’s quest to land another central defender before the transfer window closes on Monday.

With Tottenham confirming the signing of Carlos Vinicius from Benfica yesterday, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed that the North Londoners’ priority is to sign a centre-back before the deadline.

Gold revealed that Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar continues to be Tottenham’s first-choice but with the deal for the 25-year-old proving difficult to complete, he suggested that the club could turn their attentions to alternatives, one of them being Juventus’ Merih Demiral.

Responding to Spurs fans on social media, Romano has provided updates on Tottenham’s pursuit of both Skriniar and Demira, and unfortunately, it is not good news for the Lilywhites.

Romano revealed that the deal for the Inter defender was stalling, while also adding that Juventus are not ready to sell the Turkish international this transfer window.

If we cannot get the deal for Skriniar over the line (I’m still confident that we will), I would rather see Foyth stay at Spurs, and both he and Tanganga get more opportunities. It looks like we have managed to get most if not all of Mourinho’s first-choice targets so far this window. Let’s hope the same happens with Skriniar before the deadline.
