“Don’t write Tottenham off” – Spurs tipped for Champions League success

It’s fair to say that Tottenham have one of the toughest quarter final draws in the competition this year, as they come up against a side fighting for the quadruple.

Manchester City have already scooped the League Cup, and find themselves in the hunt for the Premier League, in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and the quarters of the Champions League.

They also happen to be the Premier League title holders, meaning Spurs are punching slightly above their weight.

This is the furthest Spurs have ever been in the Champions League, with their last quarter final appearance coming back in 2011 under Harry Redknapp.

However, the ex-Spurs boss believes that Tottenham may be dark horses in the fight to reach the semi finals and make club history.

His side fell at that hurdle in 2011 as they lost 5-0 to Real Madrid on aggregate, but he has tipped this current team to do what he could not.

He said (SkySports): “Tottenham-Manchester City in the Champions League – what a game that is.

“Don’t write Tottenham off. City are fantastic but on their day Tottenham can give anyone a game. That’s going to be exciting.

“It’s a good year for the English clubs and I think we’ve every chance of winning the Champions League.”
