‘Door is closed’ – Alasdair Gold rules out prospect of last-gap appointment at Spurs

Alasdair Gold has claimed that any prospect of a return to Tottenham Hotspur for Mauricio Pochettino is now over.

Sky Sports claimed last week that the Argentine was in talks with his former employer over the prospect of returning to North London with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy reportedly having admitted that he made a mistake when he sacked Pochettino in November 2019.

Gold revealed that he did some investigation work on whether a return was possible earlier today for the 49-year-old and insisted that there is not even the remotest possibility that a last-minute u-turn could happen.

He highlighted Paris Saint-Germain’s financial might which gives them the power to hold onto their manager

The journalist admitted that he would not be shocked if Pochettino will speak to the media about how happy he is at PSG and he never wanted to leave and would be the most sensible move to solidify his relationship with the fans of the Ligue 1 giant.

Gold said on his YouTube channel (3:32): “I understand after digging around today and got in trouble on my day off from doing so, but the Poch door is closed. Anyone hoping for a last-gap turnaround, from what I am told it is closed now and Spurs have had to move on.

“I’d imagine, I wouldn’t be shocked if Poch comes out now with something publicly committing his future to the club, saying I never wanted to go, and I think for him, that would be the intelligent thing to do.”
