Duo linked with Villa switch

Two Tottenham players are being linked with a move to Aston Villa in today’s tabloids.

The Daily star is reporting that Martin O’Neill is lining up a £5million bid for Scottish full-back Alan Hutton, ‘who will be made available by Harry Redknapp’.  Hutton suffered with injury and form during the majority of last season, but remains to be seen if Spurs are willing to let the former Rangers man leave.

Meanwhile, The Sun are claiming that Jermaine Jenas could be on his way to Villa Park in a £10million deal.  Redknapp needs to raise funds in order to strengthen his squad and could be willing to let the England international leave if the price is right.

Do you think either player will leave Spurs for Villa?  Have your say below.

  1. I think both may go. Hutton simply because we appear to have a lot of competition for the RB spot, and we are chasing two Sheff Utd RBs as well! Also the fact that Corluka played so well for us last season and we still have Chimbonda.

And Jenas will hopefully go because he isn’t worth the reported £10mil both Villa and Inter are willing to pay for his services.

  2. People call him marmite. Either love him or hate him. Personally I’d have him in the Spurs midfield every time. He works really hard, both with and without the ball.

    Have Hutton – he’s a nutter (hearsay)

  3. Villa fan here. I would fancy Hutton – bargain at £5m from what I have seen of him, admittedly mainly in a Scotland Jersey.

No thank you to Jenas. Complete waste of money IMHO. Neat footballer, but not an attacking midfielder or a defensive midfielder. A luxury player and not that much of a luxury!

  4. Jenas, yes yes yes, let this happen. I am a villa fan, we need a headless chicken in midfield, great defender, excellent leader, superb ball skills, eye for goal, tough tackler… yes yes yes.
( sarcastic spurs fan).. he he he.. i hope he goes!!

  5. if we are going to let these 2 go then why not get ashley young and gabby agbanlahor in exchange, they would be perfect spurs players, ball players with pace

  6. Re: Jenas, it’s true people love him or hate him. I think the majority hate him because he doesn’t really do anything. He has one good game in 7 poor ones (the type where you weren’t sure he was playing) and doesn’t score enough for a supposed ‘attacking midfielder’. He also can’t tackle or create.

People who love him always mention his workrate, saying how much of an athlete he is, running up and down etc. whilst completely missing the point that we want footballers not athletes and he often runs around in ever-decreasing circles.

  7. @Tony 10:01

You’ve hit the nail on the head there mate.

Jenas neither attacks nor defends very well. As has been said, plays a good game once in a while and will score the odd decent goal. Believes his own hype and I hope for our sakes, MON believes it too. In fact I’d rather he went to Inter, if the reports are true, so I’d never have to see him again.

He was the same at Newcastle, but at least he had youth as an excuse. 4 years we’ve patiently waited for him to get his act together. It just isn’t going to happen at Spurs, and I’d be amazed if happens anywhere else. Good riddance.

  8. Jenas for 10 mill fair enough i agree with that one but you must be joking if you can nick Hutton for 5, we paid 9 mill less than 2 years ago for a player that was also on Man Utd radar. He needs an injury free run in the side and IMO a proper defender.

  9. Villan – have some manners – sorry spurs fan for the ignorant idiot claiming to be a Villa fan.

However – no thanks to either player – we want arrogant bentley or oil tanker huddlestone cod they have a bit of class and MON will polish them up well.
