Former Dutch international claims ‘every coach’ would want to manage Spurs player

Former Dutch midfielder Nigel de Jong said on the Sky Sports Football Show (10/08/21) that ‘every coach’ in the world would want to manage Tottenham forward Son-Heung Min.

The Sky Sports pundit claimed that Son ‘is the complete package’, praising a number of his attributes including his work rate, energy, and intensity.

Son recently committed his future to Spurs, signing a new four-year deal which sees the South Korea captain contracted to the club until 2025. Son will be 34-years-old when his new deal expires which would being his time in North London to a full decade.

This news will have come to the delight of many Spurs fans, knowing that Son has committed to the club while the future of Harry Kane is still very much in question.

Fabrizio Romano’s recent update revealed that Man City are preparing a new bid of €150m for the England captain.

However, De Jong has backed Son to ‘step up’ if Kane does leave this summer, while also praising the South Korean as an individual.

He said: “He is the complete package.

“Every coach in the world of football would love to have a player like him in their squad because he just gives so much energy and intensity every game.

“His work rate is second-to-none as well. I think he’s been set to be the main guy at Tottenham, otherwise, you don’t sign a new deal for five years knowing that Harry Kane wants to move and a lot will be on his shoulders.

“He’s the type of player that loves the pressure. That loves to be the main guy and that’s how he plays as well.

“Most of the games, he is the guy that creates and can score goals – if Kane leaves then he will step up for Tottenham.”
