Dutch legend claims Man United should have signed this Spurs player in the summer

The only major sale to come out of Tottenham so far this transfer window was Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid, but you get the feeling that Spurs were happy to see him go after a sub-par season.

However, despite the Premier League window for incoming transfers being shut already, Tottenham could yet wave goodbye to another star or two.

The windows across Europe in countries such as Spain, France, Germany, and Italy do not shut until September 2, meaning the likes of Christian Eriksen could still secure a move away from North London.

Dutch legend, Arnold Muhren, has now claimed that Eriksen should have been snapped up before the Prem window closed, naming Man United as the team who should have bid.

He believes that adding Eriksen into the United midfield would only bring the best out of Martial and Rashford at the top of the pitch.

However, MEN state that United stayed away from an Eriksen deal as they believed he preferred a Real Madrid move.

Muhren said (Love Sport Radio): “United should have bought Eriksen from Spurs.

“United need a creative player like him in the team. He’s a creative midfield player, he’s got a good eye for through balls, he can score himself, he’s just a playmaker.

“That said, they’ve got four brilliant players up front – they just lack that more creative talent in midfield.”
