Eddie Howe reveals his Alexander Isak plan amidst Spurs and Arsenal rumours

Amidst the speculation linking Alexander Isak with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Eddie Howe has made it clear that Newcastle do not plan on entertaining any offers for the Swede.

Newcastle’s financial problems have been well documented and it has been widely reported over recent weeks that the Magpies will have to sacrifice some of their assets in order to fund moves for their top transfer targets this summer.

At the start of April, The Sun suggested that Isak may be one of the players who could be allowed to leave, with the report adding that Newcastle are bracing themselves for offers from both Tottenham and Arsenal for the 24-year-old.

This information was also backed up a couple of weeks ago by Football Insider, who said that Isak was one of the strikers on Ange Postecoglou’s wishlist and that Spurs have allocated a big portion of the summer budget to sign a top-class number nine.

Newcastle do not want to sell Isak this summer

However, Howe has now made it clear that Newcastle are not planning to sell any of their best players this summer.

When asked about the speculation surrounding Isak and Bruno Guimaraes, he said (via Fabrizio Romano): “I’m planning for them to be here. All my planning is with them in the squad. We don’t want to sell our best players. It’s key for us, it will knock us back some considerable distance because we would have to start again.”

Isak was never going to be a realistic target for Tottenham, with Newcastle likely to demand around £100m for their marksman. So even if we get around £50m or more from Richarlison’s sale, the Swede would still be out of reach.
