England legend praise for Harry Kane

England legend Sir Geoff Hurst says Harry Kane, who is flying with eight goals in his last eight international games, is a breath of fresh air.

Kane’s double against Tunisia got England’s campaign at Russia 2018 off to a flyer there is also a sense that Kane’s international career has reached lift-off.

Hurst said: “I don’t know what’s showing at England’s local cinema in Russia, but I would recommend something to get the beans jumping like Road To Perdition – that’s my kind of genre.I’ve no idea what films Harry likes to watch, but if it’s anything like the game with Tunisia it’s bound to be a thriller.
“And when I watch him play now, I couldn’t wish for a better man to lead England.”

Hurst also said: “As a kid, I wasn’t the best player at my school, in my district or at West Ham, so it was the stuff of dreams to be picked by England. That kept me grounded and with Harry, I think what kept his feet on the floor from a career point of view was going out on loan.

He added: “I have the highest regard for him not only as a player but as a person, and I regard him as an ideal captain. He’s one of the good guys because he understands that success on a football pitch is not just a question of ability but how much you put into it.

Hurst concluded: “One of the first times I saw him play, in his first season as a prolific striker for Tottenham, I said ‘Harry Kane is a much better player than you think he is’ – and by that I meant there’s more to his game than just scoring goals.
