English club would ‘love’ to sign Spurs 24-year-old for next season – Journalist

The Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick has suggested that Millwall might harbour hopes of hanging onto Japhet Tanganga beyond the end of the season.

After his disastrous loan spell at Augsburg in the first half of the campaign, where he did not play a single game, things have gone smoothly for Tanganga since his move to Millwall in January.

The 24-year-old is getting better with each game that he plays for the Lions and predictably, he has looked a cut above the rest in the Championship so far.

There is no doubt that quite a few clubs will be looking at the Tottenham man’s progress, with his agent, Roberto de Fenti, recently opening the door to a move to Italy (CalcioNapoli24).

De Fenti also confirmed that although his client’s contract at Hotspur Way runs out in June, Spurs have the option of extending his deal by a further year.

Millwall hoping to keep Tanganga

Kilpatrick has now said that as Tanganga awaits a decision from Tottenham regarding his contract, Millwall are hoping that the centre-back could stay put at the Den.

The journalist says that while the Championship outfit would ‘love to keep’ the 24-year-old, they are aware that he could play at a ‘much higher level’.

There is no doubt that Tottenham will take up the option to extend Tanganga’s contract so that they can get a fee for the defender in the summer. The Englishman will not be short of offers from around Europe now that he has proven his fitness and I do not see him returning to the Championship.
