“Enjoy Thursday nights” – Some Spurs fans ridicule Arsenal after Europa League misery

Chelsea thrashed Arsenal 4-1 yesterday evening at the Baku Olympic Stadium to lift the Europa League trophy for the second time in their club’s history.

The first half was a cagey affair with neither team creating too many clear cut chances. However, the flood gates opened at the start of the second half when Chelsea struck three times in the space of 20 minutes through Olivier Giroud, Pedro and Eden Hazard, to effectively put the game beyond the Gunners’ reach.

Alex Iwobi then got a consolation for Arsenal, only for Hazard to then score Chelsea’s fourth and ending what could be his final game in a Chelsea shirt with a brace and a cup win.

The defeat means that Arsenal have to be content with Europa League football for the third season in a row as they needed to win the final to seal Champions League qualification after finishing in fifth place in the Premier League.

Needless to say, Spurs fans didn’t miss the opportunity to pile on to Arsenal fans’ misery by mercilessly ridiculing them. Here’s how some fans reacted to the result on social media:

While Arsenal have to think about another season in the Europa League, Spurs go into Saturday’s Champions League final knowing they are already confirmed to be in next year’s competition.   Spurs are certainly the pride of North London.
