‘Entertainers’ – Pundit predicts Spurs will finish ninth in the Premier League this season

Michael Owen has revealed his predicted league table for the upcoming Premier League season, and while he has put Tottenham Hotspur down for a ninth-placed finish, the former England star does think Ange Postecoglou’s side will be entertaining to watch this year.

The 2022/23 campaign was a season to forget for Tottenham fans, as the Lilywhites slumped to an eighth-placed finish in the Premier League.

The North London side also crashed out of every cup competition, went through three different managers, and had to suffer the pain of watching fierce rivals Arsenal challenge for the title.

With new coach Ange Postecoglou at the helm, there is renewed optimism around the club, with the promise of attacking football generating a buzz among the supporters for the season ahead.

Shrewd acquisitions in the transfer market have reinforced problem areas in the Spurs squad, but there is still the issue of Harry Kane‘s future at the club hanging over Tottenham as they head into the new campaign.

Michael Owen thinks Spurs will be fun to watch

Over on Twitter, Michael Owen shared his predictions for the season ahead, and it seems Spurs may be set to miss out on European football once more. However, the pundit does think the Lilywhites will be a good team to watch this year.

Owen has Spurs placing ninth this season, with Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Brighton all finishing above Postecoglou’s side.

However, Owen did have praise for the new boss, adding in a subsequent tweet: “Spurs don’t have an amazing squad but I do rate their new manager highly. They could be the great entertainers this season. And now that Son is fully fit, he could be in for a big season in this attack-minded team.”

This is going to be a difficult season for Spurs, as the squad adapts to a completely new style of football and a slew of new players integrate into the team.

Obviously, a top-six finish is the aim, but there are so many teams competing up there at the moment that we have to brace ourselves for what could be a modest top-ten finish this year.
